Apple M4 Macbook Air: Apple, which recently grabbed attention with the introduction of the iPhone 16e, is now all set to launch another much-awaited product. It has been reported that a new MacBook Air M4 laptop may be launched in Apple’s popular MacBook Air laptop series.
Apple CEO Tim Cook announced via his X (formerly Twitter) account that the new ‘air’ device will be launched this week, with Cook posting a video with the caption “There’s something in the air” and “This week”.
Gurman reported that Apple is working on a 13-inch and 15-inch version of the MacBook Air M4. The upcoming MacBook Air is expected to bring significant upgrades compared to the M3 model. While the design and size options of the M4 MacBook Air are likely to remain unchanged, the new model is rumored to have some significant improvements. So, let’s know what features this upcoming Apple MacBook Air M4 laptop might have.

New upgrades of the Apple M4 MacBook Air
Consider Apple’s latest M4 chip. Although not a Pro or Max variant, the M4 chip can be said to be powerful. It has a 10-core CPU, 10-core GPU and a 16-core neural engine capable of performing 38 trillion operations per second. Compared to the M3, it is noticeably better. It offers several major upgrades, including support for ray tracing (a technology used to improve gaming performance) and improvements in the Neural Engine (a component used to power artificial intelligence-related functions).
While rumors are rife that the new ‘MacBook Air’ could be released next month, it has been reported that ‘iOS 18.4’ is likely to be released in May.
Apple is expected to upgrade its lineup of devices this year. These include ‘M4 Mac Studio’ and ‘M4 Mac Pro’. Both are reportedly slated for release this summer. Moreover, Apple’s M5 chip will arrive between October-November.
Apple is reportedly doubling the RAM to 16GB. Current MacBook Air models are available with a maximum of 24GB of memory, but the new model can expand this to 32GB. This memory increase helps multitasking and handling demanding applications smoothly.
It is expected to have two additional CPU cores, faster storage bandwidth and a 12MP front-facing camera. An upgraded 12-megapixel camera with Air Center Stage support, a feature that automatically adjusts during video calls, was introduced in the M4 iMac and MacBook Pro.
