The Honda Rebel 250, recently introduced as the Honda CL250, is an entry-level bike that beautifully blends retro style with modern technology. It is quickly becoming a popular addition to Honda’s “Scrambler” line of bikes – especially for city riders, new riders and those looking for a lightweight, classic-looking bike.
Let’s take a look at what makes this bike special: the design, engine, features, price and why it’s the right bike for you.
A fusion of retro style and modern convenience
The Honda CL250 draws inspiration from the old scrambler bikes of the 1960s and 70s in its design. The high-mounted exhaust, round LED headlamp, simple body design and simple city-style riding posture – it has it all.
However, Honda has also given this retro-styled bike modern technology: full LED lighting, a digital display and a good braking system. This strikes a balance between everyday use and attractive looks.
Engine and Performance: Reliable and suitable for everyday use
Powering the Honda CL250 is a 249cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, which is also used in the Honda Rebel 250 and CB250 bikes.
Power: Around 26 hp (may vary by region)
Torque: Good for smooth city cruising
Top speed: Around 120–130 km/h
The lackluster power design makes it easy for beginners to ride, while also providing a joy ride for experienced riders.
Seat comfort and rider experience
Long bar and straight seat design
Low seat height of 690mm – suitable for even the smallest riders
Lightweight (~172 kg) – easy to get on and off in city traffic
Its telescopic front fork and dual rear shocks provide a neutral and comfortable ride.
Technology and safety
Despite its retro look, the Honda CL250 features:
Full LED headlamp and taillight
Digital LCD: speed, fuel, gear position, trip information
Disc brakes with ABS – for safety
All these make it easy to use daily.
