Detective Ujjwalan OTT Release: Detective Ujjwalan is a 2025 Malayalam mystery comedy film directed and written by Indranil Gopikrishnan and Rahul G. It is produced under Sophia Paul’s Weekend Blockbusters banner. It is the second Weekend Cinematic Universe (WCU) film after Minnal Murali.
The story revolves around the murders of a villager in Plachikkavu. Dhyan Srinivasan plays the humorous and bright detective Ujjwalana, who investigates them. It also stars Siju Wilson, Ronnie David Raj, Kottayam Nazir, Seema G. Nair, etc.
Theatrical performance and box office success
The film was released in theatres on 23 May 2025 and earned a net collection of ₹69 lakh on its first day. It has earned a total of ₹7.67 crore in 28 days of release. This shows the strong market position of the film even before its OTT release.
OTT Update: Netflix buys rights
According to information given by leading websites, Netflix has bought the OTT streaming rights. The official release date has not been announced yet. Zee Network holds the satellite rights. Netflix has shown special interest due to Mennal Murali’s connection with the world of cinema.
